Who We Are
In 2000 Paul Berthiaume and his family, along with two other families, moved to Eau Claire with the vision to start a church called Jacob's Well.
Jacob’s Well had its beginning as a small group of five families meeting in Paul’s living room. After six months of meeting together, studying, praying, and working to develop the
Vision and Values, the group had grown to forty-two adults. We launched at Delong Middle School in March of 2001 with over two hundred people in attendance and amazing stories
of how God got us to that day. Growth was immediately consistent, requiring us to move five times in the first four years to three different schools in the Eau Claire area.
We began to sense the need for a place to call our own.
Partnering in 2005 with Builders for Christ, we built most of our current facility. Builders for Christ donated the planning and labor while we took care of the land and materials.
In October 2006 after an incredible amount of planning,
the help of over thirteen hundred volunteers, and even more miraculous stories, we walked into what is now a significant part of the campus we call home. (Click here to view a short video showing how Jacob's Well began. Watch the time lapse process of the building here.)
Once in the new facility, we quickly went to multiple services including a Saturday evening service. In 2010, we came to terms with the reality of needing additional space. We also recognized our preteens and teens needed a place to call their own. Partnering again with Builders for Christ, we designed and built what is now the Student Building. In November 2011, we opened this new addition which is an amazing tool for our preteens and teens as well as a space for adults to use for weekend worship services.
The stories of life-change continue. God helps us live out our original vision for a church called Jacob’s Well - a vision that wherever we are on our spiritual journey, we will take steps together to know and become like Jesus. We'd love for you to join us on the journey and be a part of the story God's writing as we do life together.
